[Oh, but the surprise does not go unnoticed. Neither does that look of embarrassment.]
It shows. It's hard to catch because everyone here is so difficult but trust me, you saw nothing after your little speech. [He waves his hand.] But like I said, I prefer to be on the safe side. And there's only one place left that hasn't been compromised by idiots.
When I got here I...well, I'll show you.
[Gary, with a hint of a smirk, gestures a touch theatrically off to the side, as he does so a portal appears before them.]
It's my [how to word this to Gaston...] realm...that I rule over.
[And without giving Gaston much time to reply he'll just go right in! This particular portal will lead to a sort of war room. A big stone table stands in the middle with a lot of notebooks, hand drawn maps of the town and newly added wards, anything Gary doesn't want wandering eyes to catch are closed or covered. There's also a whiteboard with a list very similar to the one he sent Gaston of all the Magi. Any information or events Gary has shared with him will be on display, with no real point in hiding them.]
[Gaston's mind is still caught on Gary's recognition of his leadership qualities, trying to figure out how to appropriately respond when Gary shows him the portal.]
A realm... that you rule over.
[He repeats it with awe, stepping inside after Gary. Once he sees what Gary has on display within - once he sees the sheer level of detail and organization in Gary's meticulous information-gathering - his mouth drops open slightly, wonderstruck. The fact that this appears to be some sort of war room, well, for a soldier like Gaston who had a very "si vis pacem, para bellum" viewpoint on leadership... it's only one more reason to be impressed.
For the moment, he appears to have entirely forgotten himself; his eyes travel around the room, entirely engrossed on the sight before him.]
